If you need to get tested for coronavirus for a job or because you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive, there are many places to get it done. I’m going to share my experience getting tested at CB Smith park off Flamingo road.

Although you can book an appointment, it’s not necessary. You can just go to the park from 9 AM – 4 PM, 7 days a week. This is a drive through location by vehicle only (no bicyclists or pedestrians). Come in through the Flamingo entrance and follow the signs! There might be a bit of a line depending what day and time you go (I went on a Wednesday afternoon and waited about an hour, but others have told me they have not waited more than 30 minutes). I suspect weekends are the busiest, so make sure to plan accordingly and have your gas tank filled up!

Multiple people can be tested in the same car, but each individual must be pre-registered. Also going to note that you do not have to have symptoms in order to be tested, just a South Florida resident.

Someone will ask you are pre-registered (you can pre-register at patientportalfl.com). Make sure you have a valid ID with you (like a driver’s license or passport). Someone will check your ID before you drive into the tent where they will do the test.

There are 2 types of COVID tests you can get at this location. The first provides you with quick results (about an hour) and the cotton swab swirls around your nostril. The second is more intrusive, the cotton swab goes much higher into your nose cavity and can be rather uncomfortable. However, these results are more accurate, and you are given the results in a few days. You may ask for both tests during one visit, just make sure to tell them.

Once they complete the test, you’re free to go! You’ll get your results either by phone or through the portal you pre-registered thorough. They send a text with the link, so don’t worry about checking until you’re notified.
